Now we move into the prophetic books of the bible in which there were four major prophets and twelve minor prophets. Prophets were chosen by God to speak in His Name to the people promoting worship, morality, and good governance. The prophet Isaiah was one of the greatest prophets. He received prophecies of a coming Messiah  (Emmanuel which means God is with us) seven hundred years before Jesus was born as you will see in Chapter 9 verses 1-6 which is always read at the Christmas Eve Mass.

The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom
a light has shone.
You have brought them abundant joy
and great rejoicing,
as they rejoice before you as at the harvest,
as people make merry when dividing spoils.
For the yoke that burdened them,
the pole on their shoulder,
and the rod of their taskmaster
you have smashed, as on the day of Midian.
For every boot that tramped in battle,
every cloak rolled in blood,
will be burned as fuel for flames.
For a child is born to us, a son is given us;
upon his shoulder dominion rests.
They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero,
Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.
His dominion is vast
and forever peaceful,
from David’s throne, and over his kingdom,
which he confirms and sustains
by judgment and justice,
both now and forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!
Isaiah 12:3-4 With joy you will draw water at the fountain of salvation, and say on that day: Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim His Name; among the nations make known His deeds, proclaim how exalted is His Name.

this entry is a word of prophecy about the nation of Ethiopia Isaiah 18:7 Then will gifts be brought to the LORD of hosts from a people tall and bronzed, from a people dreaded near and far, a nation strong and conquering, whose land is washed by rivers- to Mount Zion where dwells the Name of the LORD of hosts.

Praising God after a trial Isaiah 24: 14-15 These (the saved) lift up their voice in acclaim; from the sea they proclaim the majesty of the LORD: “For this, in the coastlands, give glory to the LORD! In the coastlands of the sea, to the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel!”

Isaiah 25:1 O LORD, You are my God, I will extol You and praise Your Name; for You have fulfilled Your wonderful plans of old, faithful and true.
